New Adventures in the Snow

I love to explore and have new adventures. Although it is not easy, I want to make it a lifetime goal to try new things and travel to new places. Recently, I got to spend a weekend at Big Bear and went snowboarding. It was such a thrill and I absolutely loved learning the sport. I have to admit that I suck at sports, always had so I'm not very fond of them. However, snowboarding was so much fun and a good workout; I hope I get to go again! I also walked around the town, explored the small shops, and ate gelato in the snow- yeah it was cold.

It was difficult to dress cute in the cold weather, therefore I layered my jacket and coat the entire weekend for a cute and casual look. Under those jeans I had leggings and socks made for snow weather. Oh, and this Roxy beanie was the best and I have no shame in admitting that I didn't take it off. I just wished someone would have told me to take gloves because my hands were freezing the entire time. I find it interesting how wardrobe is a big part of traveling. Although it's not the most important, one must dress appropriate for the weather and if you're into fashion it can be difficult. I learned this while I was in Florida, boy was the weather really not like California there (haha).

I also had time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The sun set was so pretty while driving up the mountains. No matter how many times I've seen the sun, it still manages to amaze me.

Ipsy: January Bag Review

I have continued with my Ipsy subscription and I've noticed a consistent pattern on the items I receive. Here is what I received for the month of January. I have to admit that by far this has been my least favorite bag because I feel I have received similar items sometime in the past. In previous bags, I've received a total of four eye shadows of the similar shade (not including this one), a blending brush, nail polish, and eyeliner.

What I loved:
The nail polish! Even though I've received one before, I loved the color. The nail polish is very light I used three coatings and it wasn't thick.

What I hated:
The eye liner! I've never used this brand before and I will not trust it. The eye liner consistency is really thick and dry which made it difficult to apply. I felt I had to press very hard on my eyelids to get color.

I can't complain about the rest of the products, although not my favorite I still enjoy experimenting with other brands and products. Through my Ipsy subscription there has been a few items that I absolutely love enough to buy. Well I guess this is the point of having this kind of subscription right?!

Fond Memories at Disneyland

Since my last post, which has been a while, I quit my job at Disneyland and I've spent a vast majority of my time at home with family and reflecting. (Also, this dress from H&M shrunk drastically since my last post.) Anyway, back to what I wanted to write- Quitting Disneyland wasn't as hard as I first thought it would be. I'm still unsure of a lot of things, but I do not worry because I genuinely believe things happen for a reason and soon everything will fall into place. As I was saying goodbye to all the cast members at Disney the one question everyone would ask is, "Where are you going?" I honestly did't know how to answer this question, because I wasn't going anywhere, yet it was as if people were expecting me to go somewhere. I didn't quit Disneyland because I had landed some amazing job elsewhere. Reflecting back at my decision, I quit Disneyland because I believe it was holding me back from pursuing other dreams. I have this daunting theory that getting too comfortable somewhere will hold me back from pursuing my dreams.

It's been a little over a month now and I do admit that I miss Disneyland and being a part of this amazing culture of people making magical movements for guests. Of course there were dull moments, but what made this experience special are the people that I worked with. Yes, people complain at Disneyland and cast members get irritated with guests at times. I give so much kudos to cast members who know how to keep that magic alive, believe me it is difficult to keep the magic alive everyday to exceed guest expectations. Nonetheless, there are some amazing people working right now that are making magical moments for strangers expecting nothing in return but a thank you. I experienced a lot of growth and memories during my time there that is why working at Disney will always have a special place in my life. As the 60th anniversary of Disneyland rapidly approaches this year I will wait patiently for my next visit to the Happiest Place on Earth and I have no doubt that it will be magical.

A Summer Dress in Fall

Days are going by so fast I can't believe we are more than halfway through the year. It is bittersweet because the Holidays are my favorite part of the year, but the older I grow the more melancholy I get from memories. Sometimes I wish I could freeze moments in life when I feel so much joy in my heart. I had a couple of those moments this weekend. Over the weekend, I spent a lot of quality time with friends and family close to my heart.

Although it is Fall, I am still able to wear pretty summer dresses in October thanks to this California heat that does't seem to be leaving us yet. I recently purchased this all over flower print midi dress from H&M. Although you can't see it in these pictures it has a shorter cut on the sides which gives this dress a little sexy edge to its girly silhouette. I loved how this dress just was perfectly fitted for my petite body frame. I find it really difficult to dress myself due to my small body and when I find something that fits like a glove I don't let it go!
I hope everyone had a blessed weekend with friends and family.

Catching up with Barbie

On recent fashion news, Barbie has made its biggest comeback since I was a child (in my opinion). I have many fond memories of my childhood playing with Barbies. I remember every Christmas Eve my cousin and I would play Barbies until it was midnight and time to open presents. Over the Summer, news started circulating on the web that Barbie had join Instagram under BarbieStyle, I immediately followed her.

I grew up with Barbie, she was who I would play with every day after school until I reached the age when it was no longer cool. A lot of my childhood memories are with this doll. She is the epitome of American culture. This doll is an illusion and depiction of the "Perfect Woman" - flawless, classy and stylish. She does everything and she is perfect! Our culture can pick at this doll and mention everything that is wrong with her cultural meaning, but I love how Jeremy Scott put it, "When people want to dissect her and her cultural meaning- it's a doll, it's meant to have fun, it's fashion, its just meant to be fun."

Whoever is running her Instagram page must be having a blast living that Barbie life. She is now a renowned fashion blogger who has been to many major fashion shows and most recently, she became the face of Moschino Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection which debuted in Milan. Nonetheless, bubble gum pink was the primary color of this collection featuring other fun colors such as orange, blue and green. The collection was obviously not meant to be so serious, it was nothing less of fun. The very Barbie-esque props brought Barbie to life and that's what I loved the most about this collection, Scott made every girl's dream who played with Barbie come to life. Above are some of my favorite pieces from the collection.

Ipsy: September Bag Review

I subscribed to ipsy over the summer and so far I have to say I am happy with the service. The most exciting part is getting to try new products that I wouldn't purchase on the regular basis. Getting to try new brands and products is what I love the most about being a subscriber. I have made a quick review of my ipsy bag for September.

My favorite products this month was the Crown Brush and the Pacifica eye pencil. I'm not big on eye shadows, but I did love that I got an eyeshadow brush. The bristles are soft and surely makes eyeshadow application easier. The eye pencil is really creamy and soft on the lids. I really loved the product and color. I also liked the eyeshadow, although I hardly wear it this eyeshadow has a nice slightly shimmery neutral brown tone. My least favorite product has to be the lipgloss. I've never heard of the brand CAILYN, but in my opinion the lipgloss looked cheap and I didn't like the shade of color I received. As far as the hair conditioning mask, I don't plan on using it much, but it did smell wonderful and. when I applied it to the ends of my hair it did make my hair feel smoother. It is not my favorite because I'm not into hair products and my hair is not damaged so I don't see myself using this product often.

I hope this small review helps in giving a little glimpse on what an ipsy subscription looks like. I still haven't decided if $10 a month is well worth my money, but I love receiving packages in the mail... So I guess we can say that it makes for a fun and unexpected experience.
